When I became CEO of Van Lanschot Kempen, it was my ambition to build the best wealth management company in Western Europe. Of course, I knew it wouldn’t be easy. There were major transitions taking place in climate, food and energy. An inflationary economy. Attracting, keeping and developing talent was a challenge, as was leaving a positive legacy for the next generations.
It’s quite a long list. And I felt that the best way of tackling it was to come together, to open up and to get to know each other on a different level. To really bring the one team, one dream concept to life, while taking individual responsibility.
Together with Amaseu, we took a group of approximately 50 leaders on a five-day transformation program. I wanted greater cohesion in the group, and higher levels of energy and passion. We succeeded on all counts. My expectations were exceeded.
The openness and commitment during the program genuinely impressed me. Everyone presented their best self. From then on, our interactions were much more natural, because we trusted each other. I definitely believe that, during those five days together, we started writing the next chapter in the long and successful history of our company.
